Providence, Rhode IslandThe work of Mónica Ponce de León, Principal of MPdL Studio, has a clear trajectory of experimentation with tectonics and emerging technologies in relationship with the spaces they define. The projects seek to intensify the relationship between material characteristics and the morphology of a building as a means of materializing architecture’s capacity to construct culture.
overtime displays four projects by MPdL Studio which address classic American typologies: Domesticity
and the Single-Family Home; Workplace and the Office; Culture and the American Library; Public Space and the Atrium. Through these four projects, Ponce de León reconsiders the tension between old notions of permanence, and architecture’s capacity to embody the passing of time.
